This week, Queers of Joy celebrates their 3rd birthday. What started out as a new performance night showcasing trans and gender-diverse artists has developed into a gathering of community and a celebration of trans and gender-diverse vitality.

Queers of Joy presents Our 3rd Birthday!

Date: Thursday 30 November

Venue: The Red Rattler

When Chris, my spouse and founder of Queers of Joy, asked me to choreograph “a little something” for our first cohort of Kings of Joy for first-time Drag Kings in December 2020 neither of us knew how much that would grow. That ‘little something’ has now evolved into a 6-week personal development, gender journey and transformational experience for those of us ready to lean into the masculine.

Kings of Joy is a community initiative that upholds the values of anti-racism, non-toxic masculinity and gender diversity. We offer a pay-it-forward program, the Kings of Joy Gold Stars with 6-weeks of coaching and choreography by me, The King Coach, Danica Lani. And these Kings perform their debut together on stage at Queers of Joy.

This Thursday night, our newest Kings of Joy will be bursting onto the stage with their debut performance of I’m Too Sexy…

This group is made up of actors and theatre people who have stepped out of their comfort zones to explore movement, group choreography and a masculine persona. None of them have done a Drag King performance before and together, they have landed in a male modelling competition. With the power of a double-take and the smooth edge of a Blue Steel look, these Kings are ready to give their all for you.

Prepare to be bedazzled and bewitched by these Kings who know how best to bring bromance to a competitive setting.

Why You Can't Miss Queers of Joy on 30 November

Queers of Joy is not just an event; it's a celebration of community, authenticity, and self-expression. It's a night where the trans and gender-diverse community comes together to uplift and inspire. The Kings of Joy Gold Stars will no doubt shine - and they're just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a stellar lineup of trans and gender-diverse artists ready to take to the stage.

So mark your calendars, grab your tickets, and get ready to have your queer cup filled with us at The Red Rattler on 30 Nov.

Join us for an unforgettable night of community, authenticity and joy. Let’s be a demonstration of queer liberation and honour what our elders fought for. Our freedom and self-expression. 🏳️‍🌈✨
