Awaken Your Energetic Body: Embrace Movement for Queer Intimacy

queer tantra Aug 19, 2023

Have you ever felt stuck in your body, like you want to express yourself but you can’t seem to move? Sometimes we can feel paralysed, trapped in our own physical vessels. Or, we develop habits of not moving our bodies.

Think of movement as a language. When we are in the womb, we begin to move. When we are developing babies, a lot of the world is experienced through movement, from object to object. As we continue to grow, our movement vocabulary expands. At some point in our development, we stop exploring movement. We become habitual in how we get out of bed, which foot we put into our pants first, and how we brush our teeth. Our vocabulary stops.

The same thing can happen during sex. We can become habitual in how we move or don’t move our bodies.

But movement, combined with breath, is a key that can unlock the door to more pleasure, deeper connection, and self-expression. Movement is a language that is your birthright. Ultimately, it will lead you to a more fulfilling and juicy life.

For those of us facing queer/lesbian bed death, moving sexual energy through physical movement can breathe new life into the body. In this article, we'll explore the wisdom of tantra and tantric principles to demonstrate the benefits of physical movement and how it can deepen your connections and empower you and those you love to be great lovers.

The Dance of Tantra: Moving Beyond Physicality

In Tantra, there is an abundance of benefits from showing up and doing the practices. One of the fundamental approaches lies in transcending the physical aspect of intimacy and embracing a deeper energetic connection. Physical movement serves as a conduit to unleash and channel sexual energy, awakening the senses and enlivening the energetic body.

Releasing Blocked Energy: The Power of Movement

For many queer people, societal expectations and past traumas can create energetic blockages, inhibiting the flow of sexual energy. Physical movement provides a safe space to release these blockages, liberating ourselves from emotional constraints and embracing a fuller expression of our authentic selves.

Grounding through Breathwork: A Gateway to Connection

Connecting with our breath allows us to ground ourselves in the present moment. In tantra, conscious breathing is an integral part of physical movement, unlocking the blockages that have established themselves in our bodies. Breath helps to foster a sense of calm and presence as we navigate the journey of intimacy.

Suggested Exercises for Solo Exploration

  1.  Sensual Stretching: Embrace gentle stretching exercises to awaken the body and connect with your breath. Focus on each movement, allowing the sensations to flow freely, unearthing the buried layers of sensual energy within you.

  1.  Ecstatic Dance: Create a safe and private space to dance freely to your favorite music. Allow your body to move intuitively, releasing any tension and connecting with the primal rhythms of your being.

Suggested Exercises for Partner Connection

  1.  Mirroring Meditation: Sit comfortably facing your partner, maintaining eye contact. Sync your breath and movement, mirroring each other's gestures. This exercise fosters deep emotional connection and synchronises your energetic bodies.

  1.  Tantric Touch: Explore conscious touch with your partner, focusing on the sensations and the flow of energy between you. Allow this respectful touch to kindle a profound sense of intimacy and trust.

Physical movement is a powerful gateway to embrace energetic connection and reignite the flame of intimacy within queer relationships. By applying the principles of tantra, we move beyond the limitations of the physical and delve into the depths of energetic exploration.

Whether engaging in solo practices or sharing these experiences with a partner, physical movement allows us to celebrate our sensuality, release blockages, and foster authentic connections. Let us embark on this transformative journey together, supporting and uplifting each other as we embrace the movement to deepen our energetic connection.

In the end, it's not solely about the physicality of movement, but the profound energetic connection we create – a connection that transcends barriers and liberates us to live our best lives, fearlessly and authentically.

Enjoy practicing.
