Bois Night Out: The Birth of a New Monthly Drag King Show đź‘‘
Oct 09, 2025There’s a moment, somewhere in every King’s journey, where you realise:
You don’t need to wait to be invited.
You can build the damn stage.
That’s exactly what we’re doing with Bois Night Out — Sydney’s brand new monthly Drag King show, created by Kings of Joy, made for our community, and launching Thursday 23 October at The Factory Theatre.
Bois Night Out is more than a show.
It’s a movement.
Why Bois Night Out?
Over the last four years, we’ve seen over 145 new Drag Kings rise through the Kings of Joy Gold Stars program — from first-time performers to confident, glitter-covered heartthrobs commanding the stage.
And after each show, the question kept bubbling up…
“What’s next?”
Where do we keep performing?
How do we keep growing?
Where do we get to belong as Kings?
The truth is: while Drag Queen events are thriving across the city, there hasn’t been a regular, dedicated home for Drag Kings in Sydney for several years. Not since legendary Big Rod hosted The Drag Kings Show. Most of us get one shot onstage — if we’re lucky — and then disappear back into the crowd.
But our community deserves more than a cameo. Right Bad Boy?
We deserve consistency.
We deserve joy.
We deserve to see each other and be seen.
That’s why Bois Night Out was born.
A Night for Kings — and the People Who Love Us
Bois Night Out is a stage for:
- Drag Kings who are emerging, established, or somewhere in between
- Gender-diverse artists who want to bend, stretch, or break masculinity wide open
- Queer creatives who crave community that’s playful, powerful, and politically awake
Each month, we’ll bring you a curated lineup of Kings who are hot, hilarious, genre-bending, gender-fucking, and full of heart. No two shows will ever be the same.
The vibe?
Bold. Inclusive. Queer as hell. Sometimes messy. Always full of joy and power.
And whether you’re performing, cheering from the front row, or soaking it all in with wide eyes and a full heart — you’re part of the magic.
What Makes This Different
Bois Night Out isn’t just another show.
It’s something we’ve been missing for years — a consistent, intentional space where Drag Kings and gender-diverse performers are not the exception… we’re the main event.
It’s for anyone who craves:
- A night out that’s bold, joyful, and deeply queer
- A space to celebrate gender expression in all its messy brilliance
- A community where you don’t need to perform to belong
Whether you’re on stage, in the front row, or standing in the back with your hands over your heart — you’re part of what makes this moment matter.
