Drag Kingdom on 8 December brings together the Kings of Joy community in an end-of-year performance night that is the biggest Drag King event of the year. Topped only by our first Drag Kingdom in August. With 30 Drag Kings performing, it's a celebration of the uplifting community we are part of and the ways we have all grown and developed together as like-minded humans, as members of the queer community leaning into the masculine and just as a real King does, fixing each other's crowns.

Kings of Joy's values are:

  • Joy
  • Non-toxic masculinity
  • Anti-racism
  • Inclusivity
  • Celebration of all genders
  • Fun

This community is about what's possible when we lift each other up and when we encourage and support each other. A special kind of comradery, a bromance if you will, arises when we gather together for entertainment and community.

This Drag Kingdom, not only will you see some stellar group Drag King performances, but for the first time we have opened up to solos and duos. Several Kings will be debuting their first solo, having worked with me on choreography, concept, and performance coaching. Keep an eye out for Max'd Out 'Umbrella' (originally done in the rain), Bob's Bulges 'Breakfast' (could get messy), and the evocative piece 'Twice' performed by Ewin Trouble. And of course the Kings of Joy All-Stars will be getting their sexy on with King classic, 'Pony'.

Another one of our values is making a difference and as such, all performers are giving their performance in service of raising funds for our LGBTQIA refugee friends living in Block 13, Kakuma, Kenya. This community of approximately 52 adults and their children are stuck in horrific conditions including regular violence, discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia and many of our friends have been there for years now. Having not even been processed to gain refugee status, this renders them unable to apply for asylum in a safer country where homosexuality is not illegal.

10% of all ticket sales and merch will go to our friends at Block 13. Any other profit from the night goes back into the Pay It Forward program for future Kings of Joy.

Please join us this Thursday 8 Dec, at 6:30 pm doors open. $35
