Mad on Pinterest…

I hadn’t thought I was much of a visual girl. Let’s leave Pinterest to the visual artists. However, in the last couple of weeks, I’ve found myself mad on Pinterest. My favourite board is called Queer Style Queen: Inspiration for a queer Gamine Diva who loves fashion & style.

Having done my first styling session with the illustrious Kaye Ure [www.kayeure.com] just before I left Melbourne a year ago, I’ve discovered my style is gamine (think Audrey Hepburn –  neat, boyish, street urchin) with a splash of Diva (think Tilda Swinton or Beyonce – over the top, bling!). That Diva aspect of my expression prevents me from feeling boring. I’ve noticed that the amount of Diva required on any given day, varies.

My world has gone from a small circumference to busting open into a dynamic and delicious visual delight. I love scrolling through these images I’ve pinned of people and designers who inspire me, whose style says gamine or diva or queer or all three.

How is it that something gets expressed in images, in a visual landscape, that doesn’t get articulated in words…
